About me
People are often surprised when I tell them that communication hasn’t always come easily to me.
Today, I teach at university level, speak on stages, appear in the media, run workshops (and climb mountains!) I hold a PhD in Communication Sciences and an MSc in Communication and Behaviour Analysis. But as a child, teenager and young adult, I experienced speech blockages and periods when expressing myself was very difficult.
I know what it’s like to have something to say but struggle to get the words out. I know what it’s like to second-guess yourself, worry about being misunderstood, and wish you could express yourself more clearly.
From speech blockages to communication specialist
Perhaps that’s why I’ve spent the last 25 years studying communication, behaviour, and body language.
I wanted to understand why some conversations create connection while others create conflict. Why misunderstandings happen. Why some people seem naturally at ease in social situations while others struggle to find their voice.
The more I learned, the more I realised that communication isn’t about perfection.
It’s about connection, understanding, and bringing out the best in ourselves and the people around us.
Life beyond the lecture theatre
Originally from the UK and now based in Paris, I’ve built a life that bridges cultures. My husband is French, our children are bilingual, and family life has given me a front-row seat to the joys, challenges, and occasional misunderstandings that come with navigating different languages, cultures, and generations.
It’s also taught me that people are wonderfully complex (and complicated!) and that no amount of theory can fully prepare you for life with teenagers, or a classroom full of them!
My career has taken me from corporate communications and journalism to academia, consultancy, coaching, and media commentary—all driven by a fascination with how people connect, communicate, and make sense of the world around them.
Why I do what I do
Whether I’m working with students, parents, professionals, or organisations, there’s nothing quite like seeing someone gain a new insight, shift their perspective, or discover a skill that changes the way they interact with others.
I believe the ability to communicate effectively is one of life’s most valuable skills. It influences our relationships, our careers, our confidence, and our ability to navigate the world around us.
That’s why I’m passionate about making behavioural science practical, engaging, and accessible – not something that stays in textbooks, but something people can use every day.
Beyond words
Today, I am best known for my work in communication, human behaviour, and body language analysis.
As a behaviour and body language specialist, I analyse the subtle verbal and non-verbal signals that shape our interactions – from family relationships and workplace dynamics to leadership communication, media appearances, and public figures in the spotlight.
My work goes beyond popular body language myths, helping people understand the complex relationship between behaviour, credibility, influence, and trust.
Through speaking engagements, consultancy, media commentary, workshops, and training programmes, I help people look beyond the words and better understand the signals that influence how we think, feel, connect, and communicate.

Because understanding human behaviour isn’t just my profession.
It’s my passion.
